Preparation and Characterization of Stable Superhydrophobic Copper Foams Suitable for Treatment of Oily Wastewater

A simple two-stage chemical solution process is reported, to deposit a superhydrophobic film on copper foams with view be employed in oil absorption or filtration procedures. The first stage includes the growth of silver layer increase micro roughness and second one evolves modification using stearic acid. whole time-saving, cost effective versatile. UV-Vis spectroscopy was determine optimum deposition durations detect potential detachments during synthesis process. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) energy dispersive (EDS) were used examine structure elemental analysis. Surface functional groups detected by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. An adherent coating achieved under durations. leaf-like structural morphology appeared from spherical, microflower morphologies stemmed acid deposition. influence conditions wettability obtained topography clarified. Thermal stability at several temperatures along for acidic alkaline environments examined. Oil capacity separation efficiency also evaluated foams. results showed that produced can potentially oil/water applications.
